Who Should Attend

Personnel with roles and responsibilities of crowd control, security and safety management in large event.

Course Objectives:

  • To understand the responsibility of Crowd and Safety Management under laws requirements;

  • To understand the different categories of crowds in psychological perspectives and their characteristics;

  • To understand specific arrangements for different sizes of crowds;

  • To understand the primary duties of a management team at a non-aggressive (passive) demonstration and protest

  • To know the duties of different level of security staff when managing a potentially aggressive crowd on a demonstration or protest;

  • To learn the modern use of appropriate equipment and

  • To understand the arrangements for the safety departure of VIPs.

Course Content:

  • Introduction of relevant law responsibilities for Crowd Management;

  • Introduction of the current crowd management situations in HK and tactics used in different scenarios;

  • Understanding psychological perspectives on types of crowds and their possible behaviour;

  • Rating the level of expected risks and the involvement of appropriate manpower for operations;

  • Usage of different methods for crowd management and

  • Escorting methods to ensure safe departure of VIPs

Certificate:

Participants who successfully complete this course and have 80% attendance will be issued a Certificate of Attendance

Trainer: Mr James YU

Mr. YU has served in a disciplined force for more than 30 years and has rich operational and training experiences in Crowd Control, Security and Safety Management fields. He has been involved in numerous major Crowd Control duties in HKCEE, LegCo, Victoria Park and other large-scale shopping centres..

 

With M Sc. and B Sc. in Criminal Justice and Policing Studies in UK, Mr. YU has been invited by Asian Professional Security Association (HK Chapter) as Honourary Speaker for Security, Crowd Management and Safety issues since 2007.
